InstaScent™ (Scratch & Sniff)

InstaScent™ printing slurry (commonly called Scratch & Sniff) is used for the production of fragrance promotional pieces. The product is easily identifiable as a matte finished coating which when scratched with a fingernail or the edge of a coin releases fragrance. This product manufactured by Lipo Technologies Inc. is the oldest and most cost effective way of presenting fragrances to customers.

InstaScent™ Properties and Applications

• A water-based coating
• Contains microencapsulated fragrance oil
• Contains water based adhesive binders
• Delivered as a press-ready coating for paper
• Applied to paper after ink, but prior to drying ovens
• Must be dry before packaging
• Machine application methods include:
  • Remoistenable glue stations
  • Flexography stations
  • Screen printing
